Introduction
Allow me to introduce myself: I am a Chartered Accountant by profession. In addition to my work as a financial consultant, I have a lifelong passion for reading. Since childhood, I have been an enthusiastic reader. During my school years, I often spent my free time in public libraries. Back then, with no computers or internet, Libraries were the primary source for expanding my knowledge beyond textbooks.
Shift in Interests
As I approached the final stages of my schooling, my focus shifted toward religious literature. I explored a wide range of subjects and became a devoted follower of several esteemed scholars, dedicating my pocket money to purchasing their works. However, despite reading extensively, I hadn’t yet explored the Quran’s meaning. While I recited it like many others, a true understanding remained elusive.
A Transformative Journey
In 1996, I made the decision to read the Quran in translation from beginning to end, aiming to truly understand its content at least once. I began this journey using audio tapes, purchasing a set of 30 cassettes that featured the Quran’s translation in Urdu. Each day, I would retreat to a quiet room to listen to the recordings. I listened attentively, avoiding information overload. This measured approach allowed me to complete the Quran’s translation in roughly eleven months.
The outcome was nothing short of transformative. My perspective on worldly matters shifted significantly, allowing me to see things more clearly. Most importantly, my heart was filled with a newfound confidence and satisfaction. It felt as though I had consciously reaffirmed my beliefs, which had previously been inherited rather than chosen.
Lifelong Connection
Since that moment, the Quran has become my most frequently read book. While I still enjoy other literature, the sense of fulfillment I derive from reading the Quran is unmatched.
I believe that the Quran should be accessible to everyone. This sacred text is meant to be understood by everyone, not just scholars.
May we all be guided by Allah on the righteous path.
“To all my visitors, I have a simple message: you must read the Quran with understanding and contemplation. Do not procrastinate or wait for a mythical “spare time” that may never come. Instead, dedicate your prime time, the hours when you are most alert and focused, to studying the Quran.”
Quran is to be read and understood by all, not just the scholars. May Allah guide all of us to the right path. Amen
